I'm currently having the same issue. The temp jumps around all over the place and then says that the temp is over 500 degrees even though it's set to 250. I called Traeger and they sent me a new controller. It still did it. Called again and they are sending me a new temperature probe.Make sure to keep the temperature probe clean inside the smoker. It's on the left side and is that small metal rod sticking up. Make sure it's clean so the smoker knows what the actual temp is. I've had my Trager Pro Series 34 for about 1.5 months.
